My hubby went to rhuematologist with a referral and many symptoms of lupus.? |
The doc pressed a few points on his body and said nothing wrong. He was in with him for 1 minute. Who do you call to complain and hopefully get his $40.00 copay back? Any ideas? i know that sometimes doctors make a impression as we don't do enough with the exploration, but some diseases are easily identifiable, to make a diagnosis of Lupus the patient must have had at least FOUR of these 11 manifestations at any time since the onset of the disease. 1 Malar rash fixed red rash over the cheeks 2 Discoid rash red patches of skin associated with scaling and plugging of the hair follicles 3 Photosensitivity rash after exposure to sunlight 4 Mucosal ulcers small sores that occur in mucosal lining of mouth and nose 5 Serositis inflammation of the delicate tissues covering internal organs and abdominal pain 6 Arthritis -very common in lupus, pain in the joints 7 Renal disorders usually detected by routine blood and urine analysis 8 Neurological disorder seizures or psychosis 9 Haematological disorder haemolytic anaemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia 10 Immunologic disorder tests on LE cells, anti-DNA and anti-SM antibodies 11 Anti-Nuclear Antibody (ANA blood test) when found in the blood and the patient is not taking drugs, it is known to cause a positive test for lupus in most cases, but is not necessarily conclusive you should keep looking for a solution to your hubby's problems anyways, and if you really want to complain about your doctor you can try talking directly to him for better explanation or to the main chief of his service or hospital so they can give you better options, i don't think that getting your money back is gonna make a better diagnosis that is what you really want. good luck Source(s): i am a doctor No because most likely he does not have Lupus. It is usually a disease that a black woman gets although my sister has it. Men are most likey NOT to have it. He should be checked for depression which is a huge symptom. What??? No lab work? or x-rays? That's awful. I would first call them and tell them you intend to call you insurance company and make a formal complaint. Then do it. But be prepared for a boat load of appeals. In the mean time please seek a second opinion, it will help prove your case. You didn't say is he on any medications, or in allot of pain? Is he able to work? What are his signs and symptoms. Can you elaborate please. To the answer below me Lupus does not just effect black wemon!!!!! It's NEVER lupus... Sorry, House joke... Well, the doctor did his job, and well, any legal means to get the 40$ back would most likely cost you more than 40$. The $40 is gone. Forget about it! You can always get a second opinion. |
