I Need Advice On Not Getting Sunburned While In Florida This Week-I'm Allergic To The Sun & Have Lupus? |
I'm getting ready to travel to Florida this week with my 13 year old Son. I'm 41 years old and I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia and I'm allergic to the Sun. Besides using a lot of sunscreen and an umbrella does anyone have any advice on surviving outdoors in the Florida Sun? I do have a large brimmed hat and sun glasses. If I do get a severe sunburn-it may cause me to be Hospitalized. I would not rely on the sun block to protect you as much as we would like to believe. Get a loose woven white cotten shirt to wear. Wear that on the beach... everywhere you go. A long sundress underneath that has no waist band will cover most of your legs. I saw these really nice and loosly woven tops in the mens department at Kohl's Dept. store. About $20. I know this is or could end up serious... So stay covered with fabric... Big hats... sunblock on your face and ears even while wearing your big hat. Remember to cover your feet too. If I was you I would travel with a package of fresh Aloe Vera leaves in a zipploc bag. Apply this to ANY exposed skin when you get back to the room.... or carry some with you to apply in the restaurant after a day on the beach. Keep applying the aloe every chance you get. Think about wearing form fitting undershirts or Tshirts under your garments to absorb your perspiration... then when the slightest breeze comes by you will be cooled off... even if you are layering. PRESCRIPTIONS FOR NUTRITIONAL HEALING ... by Phyllis A. Balch CoQ10 60 mg daily...Free radical scavanger L-Cysteine 500 mg daily, on empty stomach, Take with water or juice.NOT milk, Take with 50 mg of Vitamin B6 and 1,500 mg vitamin C....Promotes Healing of burns Potassium 99 mg daily ... Potassuim lost through sunburn must be replaced There are many more... The cost of the book is well worth it considering how it will keep you out of Dr.'s offices. Good luck!! Have fun!! stay inside Since you're forty one, and have probably had this your whole life, and you already answered your own question because you know what to do already, i'll just take the two points, thanks. Might I suggest coming in September. You can burn so easily in Florida. I live in Panama City Beach, FL, my boyfriend has a real fair complexion, and will burn in 20 minutes like a lobster. Be careful, wear lots of sunscreen, and don't stay out long. Wear a loose fitting shirt to keep you protected. Get a beach umbrella, they have those beach tent you can get. Look online for one. Ebay maybe.... It sounds as though you've covered your basis. Remember, get a 60 spf and reapply every 3 hours. A 60 is usually good for 6 hours, but since you will probably be sweating reapply more often. Also try going out in the early part of day and then later towards the evening. Spend the hotter and brighter part of the days indoors or in shade. If your son doesn't understand the disease, explain it to him and make it a team effort to keep your health up and have fun at the same time. Oh goodness... there are lots of bugs in FLA too. Can you reschedule the trip for the winter? Might be much more fun for you... use a good sunscreen and apply about 10 min. i know u said not sunscreen, but they make better ones now with zinc int them, that isn't like b4(it's not all white) allow it to dry, and re-apply though out the day. i think u should talk to ur dr. b4 going out in the sun like that, and get advise from there! |
