Does having a positive ANA result suggest lupus?

My bones always seem to hurt ,somedays more sever than others. And I always seem to be tired even when i get rest.

You should really discuss this with a rheumatologist or an immunologist, but is the answer is, yes, sometimes.
AntiNuclear Antibody (ANA) test is not specific to lupus, but rather is an indication that you have some sort of autoimmune disorder. This can mean that you have an actual autoimmune disease, of which lupus is one, or that you merely have a risk for an antoimmune syndrome, such as rheumatoid arthritis, sjogren's syndrome, lupus, scleroderma etc. There are too many to mention. You may not have an active disease at all, if there are other factors besides a positive ANA. And the degree to which the ANA is positive is also a factor in autoimmune disorders.
<snip> ANAs are found in patients who have various autoimmune diseases, but not only autoimmune diseases. ANAs can be found also in patients with infections, cancer, lung diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, hormonal diseases, blood diseases, skin diseases, and in elderly people or people with a family history of rheumatic disease. ANAs are actually found in about 5% of the normal population. Source(s): RN
