Initial appointment with neurologist on Wednesday morning? Lupus, MS, MD?? |
When I was 18, I started experiencing a feeling of stiffness that began between my shoulder blades and extended into my upper arms, fingers, and toes. There was never a need or uncontrolled move, but it was as if I wrapped my fingers or toes around one another in order to try and gain comfort. A warm shower seems to trigger the feeling in my stomach and throat, but a cooler shower doesn't trigger anything at all. I'm extremely tired (and I can go two miles on a treadmill every night) and don't seem to rest so well anymore. I feel as though it has affected my mind, but I cannot say that with certainty (because it could have been all the video games and football games here lately). :) There is rarely any pain but sometimes a sensation in the early morning hours (7 - 10) that feels like "pins" or an electrical sensation that runs from just below my knee to my feet on the backside of my leg. The stiffness is also in muscles of my face. Any ideas? Oh, come on... Don't ask that question here. See your doctor. Doesn't sound like Lupus. If you have had these symptoms since you were a kid I have a doubt (but not a positive doubt) about it being MS. MS typically (of course there is always exceptions) shows up in woman between 20-40 and men 35+ Definitly you sound like you need a complete check by a Neurologists they will probably order a complete CT with and without contrast (an iodine dye) to take a good look at your brain, neck (cervical) and spinal column. You may have some sort of demylenation in your brain that has caused some symptoms or you could have an advanced form of degeneration of your discs in your neck (cervical column) which causes all those symptoms as well. I would put my non medical degree bet on: Degeneration of discs. Runner up Fibromyalgia Good luck been through the tests myself Hi, Im Chris. I have Lupus.. Dosnt sound like Lupus... plus you dont state anything else that would meet that critera. MD, would have you weak, and some muscle wasting, and usually dont do much to your brain, unless very very severe. MS: That you can be checked for by a real MD, or you can have some kind of nerve damage, from a childhood incident. But from what your explaining, it can be somthing called fibromyalgia, which gives you brain fog, and cognitive skills dysfunction, muscle pain, and even joint stifness. With Fibromyalgia, sleep dysfunction is a huge part of getting the illness. You should cut the video games, and instead of staying up half the night and playing them, get into a regular sleep pattern. The whole shower thing can be several things, However Im not a dr, not going to gander at the 10 or so things I am thinking, because you are undiagnosed, and havent even seen a dr yet. I think the pins and needle sensation is from sitting so much playing video games. Depending on what type of arthritis your dad has, you can be more suseptable to autoimmune diseases, but it dosnt mean you have one. You will need blood tests, a spinal tap possibly, and they may do a muscle biopsy to see if MD if the nuero suspects it at all, but that is highly unlikely. also if your sitting all day, than doing treadmill at night, it would exaust you. You also havent mentioned, if your the right wieght, under or over weight see the dr, and see what he says good luck Chris Hi Chris, I know you are scared.I was diagnosed with MS many years ago so I remember those feelings. My best advise is to try to relax , stay off the Internet searches of possible diseases and wait for your Dr apt..I know the first thing I did when the Dr told me she suspected MS was to read all I could find on line.I succeeded only in scaring myself to death with the worst possible options. Take a deep breath, turn off the computer and do your best not to worry.. Hugs and best wishes with your Dr apt. |

Oh, come on... Don't ask that question here. See your doctor.... I am waiting for my call to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnisota for Stem Cell harvesting and in plant.. they are one of the biggest stem cell implant hospitals in the world.. Go to may... ana test will prove if 1 has lupus. personally have lupus now in end stages. Dr's know no more now then they did 20 years ago. no funding for cause or cures out there. lupus is just now... I used to make these cookies for my diabetic elderly aunt. She really loved them and they're very healthy: 3 ripe bananas- mashed 1 cup chopped dried fruit (raisins, apricots, prunes... I think that alot of doctors just don't know alot about Lupus. It's hard to diagnose, and essentially is what you are told you have when all other diseases are ruled out in some cas... It can but this is really a question for a Doctor.... An autoimmune disease... Those of us with lupus do have bad days and good days. If we are in a flare, we have lots of bad days in a row. And the profound fatigue can hit you with no warning. Sometimes I have trouble... |
