Between what ages do women begin the process of menopause? |
Between what ages do women begin the process of menopause? Normally mid to late 40's through late 50's. However, there is such thing as early on set menopause which can start as young as 20's and through the early 40's when it's considered "normal" range. The average age of menopause is 51 years. The normal age range for the occurrence of menopause is somewhere between the age of 45 and 55. The average age is 51 but it can happen earlier or later for women. Some go into surgical menopause if their ovaries are removed during a hysterectomy. I'm currently 36 and am on hormone replacement therapy because even though I kept my ovaries when I had my hysterectomy I read there is a 50% chance of going into menopause within the first five years after a hysterectomy when ovaries are kept. Menopause typically occurs in a woman's late forties to early fifties.
