Tubal Ligation and Early Menopause/post tubal syndrome?

Has anyone who had a tubal done have things going wrong with their body?

At times I think I am going thru early menopause and I have extreme heavy periods where I will bleed for a month. I'm now anemic and I had to go on Birth Control to control the bleeding. Seems ironic, you get this tubal done but still need Birth Control pills.

What has your experience been after having the Tubal done?

For those unfamiliar with Post Tubal Syndrome-the symptoms are described on this link near the bottom
http://retardedrugrat.wordpress.com/2006...

I had a tubal ligation done many years ago. There was only one change that I noticed - I started having different and unusual cramping during ovulation - not during or just before periods, but during ovulation. The cramping would last about an hour or two. It took a while to figure out that was what was happening. Other than that - no symptoms. And definitely not early menopause either.

There was a while when I had symptoms similar to yours though, and it turned out to be caused by insufficient thyroid hormone. So get your thyroid checked. And I know that for many people symptoms like yours are then resolved by having a D & C. Best of luck.

a tubal does not affect the hormones that is the primary job of the ovaries. if you still have your uterus and ovaries (which it sounds like you do) your body will continue to produce those hormones and will still continue the process naturally. you did not say your age so it just might be a natural time for you to start menopause. you really need to talk with your doctor about this and if you are unsatisfied with their answer seek a second or even third opinion.

I have had some symptoms that might be associated with post tubal syndrome (or might be entirely unrelated). My periods are wildly erratic whereas they used to be utterly predictable (but then again, I'm in my late thirties; it could be perimenopause). They're also more uncomfortable than they used to be (but still certainly bearable). I'm indisputably more moody than I used to be (though that could just be from the pressures of having four kids). I've had gastrointestinal problems severe enough to send me to the doctor (and it takes a lot to send me to the doctor; after a bunch of testing they still don't know what's causing it). And I've had "disturbing memory lapses" (actually disturbing; not just your typical forgetfulness -- but honestly I think those predate my tubal).

Whether any of those things are because of my tubal or not, I honestly have no idea, and I certainly don't want to scare anyone who's considering it. Most people who have tubals end up perfectly fine. I bet a lot of people who haven't had tubals would find they had a fair number of the symptoms on that fairly long list.
