I'm in my 40's and I'm wondering about menopause?

I know periods come up "missing" if the woman is under stress which I am...but
I want to know...about when do periods start changing or skipping in the time before menopause.
Is 43 about right?
Tell me what you know or have heard.

I had surgery on my arm in March and had two periods (March and April) and that is all. I think I'm two months behind and there is NO CHANCE I'd be pregnant. I am to sick to fool with sex.

And I've just lost 30 lbs... which I needed to loose, but I lost it being sick.

i started mine in my forty's,, 45 to be exact.. i just skipped like you did and never have seen no more,, its great to,,no more periods,,,they say i your mom started menopause early you will too..its a myth but i did,,i am now in my 50s..with hot flashes and mood swings..it just apart us women have to face and the men wonder why we are so different than them..lol wish you the best sweetie...

oh i hate to her you lst so much weight,, it will do that sometime,, you lost alot of blood and it wil make you lose iron and make you tired. hope you get better swetty.. i really do,, thank you... Report Abuse

it sounds like the beginnings of menopause are possible. Menopause can affect women as young as their mid 30's in some cases. It is not uncommon for a woman to not have a period for several months and then all of the sudden have 3 in one month. One way to help keep things more regular would be to be placed on birth control. Now, I know that to women in their 40's this is not a really popular idea, but other options and what would be best for you should be discussed with your gynecologist.

43 is about 5-10 years too early. However, stress (both psychological and psysiological) can cause elevations in the stress hormones (cortisol, epinephrine, etc.) which can throw the menstrual cycle out of whack.

Certain medical conditions diabetes, obesity, polycystic ovaries and thyroid diseases can also cause premature menopause.

If you are seeing a physician for your illnesses, you should bring this up. Hope this helps.

43 is easily correct, the range is from 40 to 50; I believe 42 is early, 45-46 average, and 50+ late, but common enough. Yes, periods are irregular due to stress.

Look up endorphins and serotonin and try to think of activities that will increase these natural chemicals in your body, or see a women's health counsellor, for reassurance and validation.

Do not decrease contact with loved ones in your family circle.

Good luck with it all.

43 is early but everyone is different.
Stress is a big factor.
Diet and too much exercize will also do it.

Might pay to see a Dr
