Is my girlfriend going through menopause?

I've been going out with my girlfriend for about 13 months now. I am 25 and she has just turned 39. We have recently moved in together and over the last 3 or 4 months her sex drive has decreased to wanting it about once a week, if that. I have discussed my frustration with her and she is aware that we havent been having sex alot over the past few months. Most weeks it is twice a week but sometimes we can go for a week without her instigating anything. What worries me more is menopause. She is 39 so could be going through peri menopause? I never knew there was such a thing as pre menopause and it includes symptoms such as fatigue, reduced libido, dryness of the vagina etc... I am worried. A friend suggested she could be pregnant. HELP!

Yes, this can be perimenopause. My perimenopause began at age 38. Read more at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/perimen...

In perimenopause, estrogen and progesterone can decrease and fluctuate, resulting in a decreased sex drive and decreased vaginal lubrication.

The downside of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for menopause symptoms is that it's linked to certain cancers.

At this point in your relationship, good communication is essential. Please be patient with your girlfriend and it's important to remember that your most erotic body part is your brain, not your genitals. You and your girlfriend may have to be creative in finding ways to increase her interest in sex. Ladies of her age are usually self-confident enough to welcome a little experimentation!

absolutely she could be peri menopause, true it is young but it happens. I was 37 when I started....Tell her to go to the Dr. and he/she will do a hormonal profile to see exactly where she is.Has she been late,or missed a period? Then gets reg. for a while her periods might become heavier than usual than back to normal for a while,if so than she's starting menopause.(M00D swings) mine were brutal because I didn't know what was happening to me I too thought I was too young. a doctor visit is the answer. Good luck

dunno what physiological thing could be going on. 39 is early for onset of menopause, but it could be that she's depressed or preoccupied or tired, lack of vitamins, etc. suggest that she and you go to her doctor together to discuss all possibilities.

Well, first off, you don't go through menopause until your in your 50's or late 40's. second off, 14 years older?! people these days...

could be going through peri menopause
She needs a doctor to rebalance her hormones.
