Peri menopause? odd, odd periods! help!?

i am 42 and have 3 kids. The youngest is 7. My periods have always been easy to cope with, but latterly they are awful.
Instead of 4 days of light loss, I now have one day when I seem to get it all at once. I have flooded, and loose what looks like huge clots too.
I mentioned it at my last smear, a couple of months ago, and the nurse said to see my GP.

Would they just want to put me on the pill? What other things would they offer me?Has this happened to you?

Thanks in advance:o)

This is something I have recently had to deal with myself..It took 7 months to get to see a gynae but what a relief when I did!
If you are peri-menopausal and suffering severe blood loss then the first thing usually offered is a Mirena coil..It stays with you for 5 years and so far it has solved all of my problems!
One thing that did suffer badly because of the bleeding was my iron store so it may be a good idea if you got yourself some iron tablets. One of the symptoms of this was needing to sleep more than usual
I hope you find this helpful
