Period after menopause?

My mom is 62 years old and she passed menopause around 5 years ago. the transition was pretty normal - the usual hot flashes, stopped getting period, had some ear problems but she claims it's all ok now.
suddenly, 5 months ago her foot really started hurting her (ankle area).
along with that she suddenly tells me she got her period back, and from what I understand it's not just spotting but more serious than that.
since then it happened twice more during the last 5 months and her foot is still bothering her. It didn't happen in a normal cycle, once a month, but rather out of the blue and the bleeding continued for no more than two days.
I'm feeling really worried about this - it sounds weird to me that a woman after menopause would suddenly start pms'ing again. My mom doesn't trust doctors (having bad experience with them in the past) and refuses point blank to go get checked.
I don't know what to do anymore and I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help me out on this: are any of you familiar with the symptoms I describe? should I be as worried as I am now?

Yes, you should be worried. Any bleeding after menopause is cause for concern, as this can be a symptom of cancer. You have to find a way to convince her to see a doctor. Good luck

Okay no to scare you or your mom, but depending on the flow, sounds like she could be hemorriging, it could be a tumor, cancer, anything. Whether she wants to or not, she needs to stand firm and go to an OB, she has to remember that not all doctors are the same. I would get it checked out, I think she would rather see a doctor and live than not see a doctor and die.

She really needs to see a GYN doctor asap. Abnormal vaginal bleeding in a post menopause women can be signs of some serious problems.

The worst case sceneiro is that it is cancer - but there are other things it can be. She needs tosee a doctor to rule it out.

have you tried searching the internet, surely there gotta be an online doctor or summin, or go to her doctor and ask them about it:)

It's normal and varies in women, I'm at the starting stages of menopause and stop with spotting on occasion and just this month full blown period, it's transitional and take it in stride.
It's usually from unexpected stresses or events that sometimes bring on menstrual cycle.
As with her a misdiagnosis and encouraging me to get surgery when not needed made me decide to sort of doctor myself and look to alternative medicine and Eastern medicine that encourages self help but this is my personal opinion and nos suggesting she does the same.
As long as you see that she's not overstressed or worked and not concern neither should you
The ankle area, the inner ankle (uterus) and the outer side or side where little toe (ovaries) which is probably why she's having problems in that area.
A relaxing foot massage including the ankles will help
I personally wear as house shoes reflexology shoes called Old Friend that has rubber points that help massage the points as she walks.
Just make sure's she's eating right, getting her rest (very important) and a good multi-vitamin
