Could my hot flashes, which have nothing to do with menopause, be stress related? |
I started a new job a couple weeks ago. I love it but there is a lot to learn, and I am trying very hard to make sure I do everything well. Today, while I was working at my desk, I noticed I suddenly felt like I was burning up. Many of my coworkers were wearing sweaters, so I don't think it was hot in the room. When I walked outside after work, my skin felt really hot against the cold air. Later, when I was at home, I began thinking about some things I need to take care of tomorrow and I got another bit of a hot flash. I am in my 20s, so its not menopause related. Have you ever had stress related hot flashes? Is that normal? Yes. I'm 27 and this week I started getting hot flashes. I know for a fact that's not menopause, but it's due to a high amount of stress I've been under. A week or so ago, I tried to make peace with somebody who was angry over some very stupid. All hell broke loose, and as a result, I ended up losing my temper. I was so mad that I felt the heat rising into my face and neck. I felt it for a few days and it went away. When I found out she was responsible for another friend dropping me without warning, I felt the heat again. I still feel it as I'm typing. But yeah, hot flashes have ton of causes and stress is one of them. If you want to be sure that physically you're okay, set up an appointment with the doctor as soon as possible and get some blood work done. Take care of yourself and remember to breathe. |
