What age do dogs have menopause? |
Hi! I have a four year old pug, it's been almost a year since her last menstraution. Is she on menopause? I hope you can help me out. Thanks. B*tches do not go through menopause. Either she is having what is commonly called silent heat or something is wrong. Take her to a vet to check her out. Also talk to the vet about getting her spayed. There are health benefits for spaying her. l wish this ws true but they do not go through menopause they continue till you have them de-sexed which is advisable if it has never had pups and is around 8 years of age to prevent possible complications occurring. As for your pug they can and do change their cycles whether the weather or for other reasons so give it time as she may have had a silent season or heat as it is called and you were no aware of it as they bleed little and unless an expert you would not detect it.Gee l wish animals did go through this menopause it would save a lot of vet bills for people. There is no doggie menopause. There can be many reasons why a girl dog does not cycle. Sometimes they are having "silent" heats -- you don't see anything but they can still become pregnant during this relatively symptom-free heat cycle. Sometimes they have cysts (which generally cause more frequent heats, but could also stop heat cycle), or they may be having a variety of hormonal issues. Or it could be that she does cycle, but keeps herself very clean and you haven't noticed. This does happen! bitches don't go through menopause. Her cycle might have changed, she'd had a silent heat or something is wrong. Huh? You're kidding right? |
