Do women going through menopause tend to eat more and gain weight?

Do women going through menopause tend to eat more and gain weight?

I don't think it is even a matter of eating more but the metabolism slows down as the body ages. Wieight tends to start being distributed on different parts of the body and with women it goes to the waist, hips. stomach area. This has a lot to do with less energy and hormonal changes. Men experience this also to a certain extent.
I'm not there yet but I guess I'll find out eventually and not that far off either. The part about eating more sounds unlikely and judgemental though. I know their hormones change so maybe some do gain weight because of that. People have become obsessed with weight. It's insane!
YES, this a physical need as we tend to think of people in that stage of life as non deserving of our time and effort.

In fact they need more support and are ashamed of admitting it.they feel alone and fairly depressed. You will often find that alcohol rears it's ugly head.

So let's provide some positive effort and talk to these women.
They tend to gain more weight, whether they eat more or not.
As we age, our activities and metabolism generally slow down--- so eating even the same amount as before can lead to weight gain.
But sometimes menopause, and just being in that age group, has its emotional/ mental traumas as well--- and many women do turn to food for solace.
It can be a tough transitional time of life--- "the change of life" as they call it. Some lose weight--- many gain. In other generations, a woman of that age was expected to look like a "grandmother"-- and that usually meant plump. Today most women want to remain youthful looking and active in all ways--- so weight gain is a problem to them.
gaining weight during this process is normal but the over eating may be a symptom of the menopause itself.
yes,no,yes,no wait was that repetitive?no more than any girl who would eat more and gain. Here is the thing...the metabolism changes so yes one would have to modify the old d&e plan.I seriously doubt the hormones help or hinder that drastically.
