Do dogs have a 'menopause', when they'll stop going into heat? Dogs don't experience menopause, just irregular heat as they age. Source(s): http://www.vetinfo.com/dfemale.html... http://www.seefido.com/html/dog_reproduc... I would think that eventually the dog would stop going into heat. Of course the age that this owuld happen would depend on the breed , The larger the dog the shorter the life expectancy so it would stand to reason that the older the dog the less years it would be able to procreate. I do know that a Vet once told me that dogs can and do get anything that people do i just this week heard of someone that I know who's dog was diagnosed with BI-POLAR disorder and is currently on Physiatric medication , so why not menopause of sorts. Animals are designed for the survival of the fittest so it stands to reason that the older the animal the less likely that the species would want them to reproduce. so I would say yes. |
