Do dogs go though menopause? If so what age? |
She's 10 & a half. Female dogs cycle throughout their life, they do not experience menopause (reproductive cycles ceasing with age) as human females do. There was a time in human history when we didn't outlast our reproductive organs; hurray for modern medicine! Source(s): http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/pregnanc... Since dogs do ****NOT***** menstruate....OF COURSE NOT!!! Estrus is the EXACT ***OPPOSITE**** of menstruation! check the web.. you should be able to find a more accurate answer. actually dogs do menstruate, the bleed for a couple of days then go into heat. dogs do eventually stop this, usually quite late in life, but it has a lot to do with breed and if they've had puppies. your vet could give you good info to it in relation to your dog or have a look at breeding info on your breed. Yeah they stop going into heat when their owners grow a brain and learn to be a responsible pet owner by spaying and neutering their dogs. Dogs do not go through menopause. They aren't women - they are b*tches. Dogs that are not neutered will continue to come on heat all their lives. This is the reason a lot of old female dogs get very sick with pyometra, which is pus in the uterus. All dogs should be neutered. I know of one old dog that had pups at 14. |
