Mature ladies out there: Menopause question? I'm confused!? |
I'm 47 and have not had a period in over 5 years, sounds like early menopause but is not early for my family. (8 sisters and Mom all began this process in early 40's). So, out of the blue, I'm having a terrible, heavy,, I mean, HEAVY, period. Is this usual? I've had all of the other menopausal symptoms throughout these years and simply didn't think I had to worry about aunt Flo again.. Anyone have comments, experiences? Sounds like a rush of a hormone? Which one not sure, I would see a doctor to get blood work done. You could be anemic? They might be able to help you with a pill? Or sometimes surgery? This is not normal after a 5 year break. Did you stop a medication suddenly? Been sick, in an accident? Sudden change in your life? the doctor will ask all those questions then order blood and urine test! Source(s): done that! Please get a gyno exam. It could be hormonal, or an abnormality in the uterus or ovaries. This happened to my mom and she had to have surgery. Everyone is different- find out what's going on with you before you compromise your health. Please see your gyn. If you haven't had a period in 5 years, then the bleeding could be something other than a period. You really need to get in to see your GYN asap. I agree with everyone else. Make an appointment. It could be nothing, but it could be something serious. Either way it's not normal. Do make a doctor's appointment as soon as possible. This is not normal after five years of not having a period, you need to get a pap test and get checked out to find out what is going on and to ease your own mind |
