Major cause of early menopause in cancer patient especially CA of the breast is what? |
I discovered dt most patients wt CA of the breast are experiencing early menopause not minding their age & I think is the chemo & radiotherapy they are taking that is causing it but someone told me it is the cancer cell that cause it but I disagreed because I saw a woman wt advanced CA of the breast that gave birth to a baby.(the delievery was through sesarian cession & the pregnancy was 7month old) Early menopause is due to chemo therapy and that's the truth. Early menopause is caused by chemotherapy - I have had breast cancer and was unusual because my periods did not stop until the fifth dose - but they stopped then and have not ever returned - and it is now 13 months since I finished chemotherapy - I also had radiotherapy - it is not the cancer itself that brings on the menopause. I don't have breast cancer, I have cervical cancer. I'm 35 and in menopause. I was told from the get go that I would be thrown into what my doctor called "medical menopause" and was told that the chemo and radiation would bring that on. personal experience The cause is chemotherapy. The menopause that is caused, is temporary for some women and permanent for others. The older you are, the more likely that the chemo will make you permanently in menopause. I had chemo at age 31. In about month four, my periods stopped and I was in the temporary menopause with hot flushes and no periods. However I have since had a period which I'm very happy about. Altogether my periods stopped for about 7 months before they came back. Other things can temporarily affect periods, such as stress and trauma, medications etc, but with cancer, chemo is the big one. my experience, and what I've learnt through oncologists IT is the chemo that causes it, as it kills all cells in the body. that is also y your gums can receed. |
