What is a good hormone gel to relieve menopause? |
What is a good hormone gel to relieve menopause? I've heard that Premarins is good to use (but I've only heard about it as I am still in my childbearing years...). Check with your doctor as it is not always safe to use whatever is out on the market today, and everyone can't use the same medicine either. First, some definitions. Menopause is a distinct event that can only be identified in retrospect. As in, it's been a full year with no periods and no spotting, so that was menopause. Perimenopause is what most people incorrectly refer to as menopause or going through menopause. Perimenopause begins in your 30s, and takes 15 - 20 years or more. That's why it more difficult to conceive in your 30's than in your 20's. Both perimenopuse and menopause are facts of life. They aren't illnesses any more than pregnancy, periods, etc are illnesses. They don't have symptoms that need to be treated. If you are having real problems with perimenopause, speak with your doctor. But there are are other things could be happening here, and they're not necessarily related to the natural slowing of your reproductive hormonal cycle. Even if they are, you may benefit much more making changes in your lifestyle than be adding back hormones that your really no longer need. |
