How do i tell if I have started menopause...I am 10 days late and have been regular for years...? |
Other wise I could be pregnant!!! In American women, the average age for menopause is 51. However, it can occur between a woman鈥檚 late thirties and her late 50s. Perimenopause is the two to fifteen year span before menopause during which a woman experiences changes due to declining levels of estrogen and progesterone. For some women, the perimenopausal time can be more troubling than actual menopause. A woman may notice changes in her menstrual cycle several years before true menopause. During perimenopause, ovulation occurs intermittently. The menstrual period may occur irregularly and may be quite heavy. Other cycles may produce a light menstrual period. As perimenopause moves into menopause, the ovaries produce much less estrogen and progesterone and the menses cease. Some symptons of perimenopause are: hot flashes, changes in menstrual cycle, mood changes (irritability), insomnia, vaginal dryness, and urinary leakage. Menopause is usually diagnosed after the doctor reviews a woman's medical history and performs a physical examination. The doctor may also order blood tests to make sure the symptoms are related to menopause and to decide what therapy, if any, might be most appropriate. I am 39 and still ttc #1. My doctor did a blood test to make sure that I wasn't menopausal. He said I was at a 5. Not sure what that number means but he said that I'm nowhere near menopause. Hope this information helps. They have otc memopause testing kits now...to tell if you are starting menopause. if you are pre-meno you could still get pregnant try to guess to mate when your period is due and take a hpt if not then just keep trying good luck |
