What can you say about mood disorders after menopause? |
What can you say about mood disorders after menopause? Natural menopause is a normal and expected transition in a woman's life cycle. Most women will not experience severe difficulties, but preconceptions about the climacterium are likely to influence how well it is tolerated. Although most community studies have not shown an increase in mood disorders among postmenopausal women, there may be an increase in the 5 years preceding menopause. Mood disorders are more likely to occur in surgically menopausal women and in women with previous episodes of depression. Most women take medicinal (e.g. injectables) or herbal alternatives (e.g. Estrin-D) to combat this stage and eliminate the experience of difficulties encountered during this stage of her life. Source(s): http://www.4starhealth.com/estrind.php... I just turned 60 and I'm post menopausal. My GYN started me on Harmon replacement when I was about 52 and I think that is why I never really had any mood problems when I began menopause. Later it was decided that I shouldn't be on Harmon's and I had night sweats which interfered with my sleep, I tended to be moody, similar to the moodiness I had when I had my periods years ago and painful breast...the whole thing. I think Harmon's keep you younger looking and makes you feel better, just my opinion. Hope this helps you. Postmenopausal |
