Why do women put on so much weight after menopause what can b done so u don't put on so much? |
why do women put on so much weight after menopause.is it related to having or not having kids and what can be done so that u don't put so much on Walking is the best start--no equipment. It's a reality that your metabolism slows. Remember that well-kept secret --eat less, exercise more! I feel your pain! be active. workout. Their metabolism slows down. Healthy diet and exercise. They don't, necessarily. When aging, one's body begins to slow down its metabolism is all. That can happen at age thirty. Maintaining an active life style helps. The weight starts to pile on rapidly a few years right before menopause for a sound reason; the body stores estrogen in fat cells, and, as estrogen production falls, the body is trying to store up what it can. It has nothing to do with having had children. Fighting this weight gain...and redistribution, by the way...is fighting Nature. It's like trying not to get taller in your teen years. I suppose one could starve oneslf (some call it dieting, but it's just pain starvation), but I would think that would initiate a slower metabolism, and you would have the same problem. My advice: who gives a damn? Be comfortable, and deal with the side effects you CAN change, such as the hot flashes & insomnia. I have this problem. I think it is because the metabolism slows down the older we get so we need to eat less fat sugar and carbs. We also need to be more active however this can be hampered with pain due to arthritis (wear and tear). in other words it takes all day to do what you used to do in an hour. The best thing is mentain your health and don't worry about the scales and buy clothes that make you look good. I think its due to a hormonal shift. This source I found is extremely helpful. Please refer to that. |
