How do you know if your at the start of menopause/? You will notice a change in your menstrual cycle. You will also begin to notice a minor weight gain. You can experiences types of anxiety feelings. You may not be able to sleep as well as you did. You may experience feeling of needing more fresh air or needing more cold air. (Hot flashes---just depends). Go the doctor and have a FSH and TSH test run to determine what your level is. Source(s): medical background well , first be sure you are female. that is a great clue Docs always ask your age. I'm 42 and noticed 10 years ago that there was something going on. Sudden change in your emotions before, during, or after your cycle is a start. You can be in what I used to call "pre" menopause. There are studies that say you can have some "symptoms" as early as 30. I have since had a major change in my "flow". After tons of testing, they told me I was right. It is menopause. I can start HRT or even have a hysterectomy. ( I don't think so, just knowing what it is eases my mind.) It is a phase all women go through. I have heard of hot flashes and lack of interest in sex as main indicators but I have neither. You know your own body more than the doc. Try talking with female relatives. Sometimes they are your best source for information. I'm young to be in menopause but it's all relative. Hot flashes, at night, that would make a desert rat wilt. I live in snow country and standing outside at night when it's zero does help. Some. Meanness, not mood swings. The mood swings I have now compared to those I used to have...like comparing a lit match to a bonfire. The thing about these swings are that you are aware that you are crossing the line and just can't stop yourself. It truly sucks. My personal opinion, regarding hormones; they made me cry all the time. I would cry when I saw a trash can tipped over. Seriously messed with my emotions. You'll know. If it is entering your mind now that you might be entering that phase of your life....welcome. I hear that when we come out the other side of menopause we will feel empowered and liberated and like we are starting life all over. That's what some of my girlfriends have promised me anyway, I hope it's true. I need some kind of payoff for undergoing this torture. By the way, these ultra symptoms started right after I stopped having cycles, not before, and built up towhere they are now. I am almost two years into this and it's raging, with anywhere between 3 years and 7 years to go. |
