Does anyone have any cures for hot flushes due to the menopause? Cant take HRT so need something natural.?

I to am suffering same problem and due to breast cancer in my family am unable to have HRT. Last few days have been very bad for flushes - I have been told to go to good health food shop as there is a natural remedy that works - called extract of Yam
am going to give it a go -if all else fails will just keep running outside to open the fridge !!! They tell you about periods when you are young but never this menopause m'larky!!
My mom swears by soy milk. You can get this in tablet, powder to liquid or ready made liquid form.
poor you!!! my mum had the same problem, she went to visit a chineese herbalist which gave her all these lotions and potions, they seem to be helping at the moment!
good luck!
Have you heard of Black Cohosh ? it can be bought at herbalists and lots of women i have spoken to in the menopause recommend it.
Just type it in your browser and lots of sites come up for you to read about it. (will probably end up getting some myself - think i am starting the dreaded menopause!) Good Luck!
Try visiting menopausematters.co.uk
I found lots of info there when I hit the "change".
Hope it helps.
Black cohosh has some evidence as a natural treatmetn.

Take a look at the link below for an excellant advice sheet about HRT alternatives.
