If you started your period at a very young age, will menopause also start early?


I saw someone else ask what the youngest age for starting menopause, and I was wondering if there's a direct correlation of when a woman starts her period to when she starts menopause.

Just thinking out loud, i guess.

I don't know if starting your period at a young age would push
you in to an early menopause. One thing I have heard alot of
is us women usually follow our mothers when it comes to the
female stuff. I started menopause at the same age as my
Mom did> I'm just hoping it doesn't last as long as hers did!!!!
Those Hot Flashes were about to KILL me.

Absolutely false - Menopause has no bearing on when you started getting your periods. Ask your mother this question and also your grandmother if you want a better idea of when your menopause might start.
Not necessarily. I don't think there's any correlation between menarche and menopause. Anecdotally, I've heard that women who start young go longer, which would really suck if it were true. But I don't have any definitive evidence that that's true.
