I am currently taking an antidepressant and I'm also going through menopause and how my side effects are? |
I am currentl taking an antidepressant and going through menopause, and i feel as if my side effects are greater than those of an anverage women? Please if anyone is or has gone through this please let me know as far as what i am feeling is either normal or abnormal? Please any feed back will be greatly appreciated. Sincerly yours,Liz If you are taking any hormones to manage the effects of menopause this can exacerbate your mood. Every woman responds very differently to menopause. I would recommend trying some alternative medicine. Acupuncture can be very helpful under such circumstances. Yes I am going through that right now! I am taking antidepressants and hormones to try to keep a level head! Hot flashes are the worst but thank goodness I can now run outside and get cooled down fast. I wish I could help. By the way my husband asked me to answer this one. I hope you get relief soon! Donna I believe you need to hear that you are just doing ok! And I believe you are, if you are aware how much you've changed (due to age issues and the side effects, etc)! Worry will definitely get you worse than you already are! (No tv nor news, even on radio, pls!) I've a gf who says she gets crying spells 'a lot'. I haven't experienced 'spells' but I've cried (and I know why I'm crying). Moodiness is when you're in and you stay in it. I stay in it long enough to know to get out! (do something, take a dif channel in your brains). As for body changes, work on it, one small step at a time. Perhaps every other day you eat a healthy diet, then 'cheat' in betw. You are in charge of your body. To be depressed is not 'bad', but to 'stay' there, remain there, is! Thoughts, no matter how 'bad', cannot harm, unless you intend to carry them out! Meanwhile, stay 'afloat' with your fix-it anti depressants; I would recommend you keep your body in some form of as regular as you can get it activity because exercise is documented to give you 'good' feelings over/beyond what other hugely unpleasant stuff is under that grey matter. Be kindly to yourself, for any amt of small effort you put in. Keep a log journal, and be sure that you are going to 'dip' some days, some days you wll see some success, cherish those days to keep you from straying too much in your depressive mode! Cherish = consciously think about experiences/events in process and feel the joy of having succeeded while doing something or being with someone you enjoy/like. hope this helps.... |
