I was wondering if sleeping a lot a night was common for a woman with menopause.?

This is about my mother.

i'm there and want to sleep alot - is your mom depressed? she should see the doctor to make sure everything is ok. but it is hell when your hormones go crazy on you....
Look it up on the www.
as we get older the body actually requires less sleep
excessive sleeping can signify illness
lack of adequate nutrition need to feed the body
and depression
menopause is a change in the hormonal structure of the body effecting all the systems of the body and how they function
therefore if it is a concern have her checked out by the doctor
Actuallly, your mom is fortunate if she sleeps a lot at night. Most women in menopause wake up several times a night, soaking wet with sweat. But it affects almost everyone a little differently. Assuming she's checked with her doctor and doesn't have anything like depression problems, all you can do is roll with it and laugh at it.
One thing that seems to help is getting regular exercise and cutting back on coffee. Now is the time for herbal tea (peppermint is good, so is chamomile) and pampering herself a bit.
Hi Jhrrdbi, I have gone threw the change of life and i don't remember sleeping alot.I guess it depends on the person. Everyones' body is different that other. If you are worry about mom, have her call the doctor and set-up apointment to be checked out. Everything should be fine.

Well...I dont know that I would say its common.....According to other circumstances in her life/health.......Most women that I know DONT sleep a lot b'cause of night sweats and general nagging insomnia......I have been known to not sleep much for days and finally my body will be so tired I will sleep like a log maybe 1 night or so......Also as I have gotten older I tend to go to bed earlier than I ever have in my life....OR that could be because I work so hard all day...I am exhausted by dark.....but then I tend to wake earlier than ever also......
Is she depressed? over worked?......I dont know that there is one pat answer...to your question......How old is she?
