I have not had a period for 1 year im not going through the menopause cos im only 17 whats wrong with me.? |
please contact me on npaddock@toucansurf.com i am 17 and have not had a period in 1 year i am a size 16 and just under 15 st even though i exercice alot. please help me. i want children in the future and i dont know what is wrong with me please help me as i am scared to go to the doctors. being irregular for teens is normal a 1yr while not the end of the world, seems quite awhile, understanding your body is important, your cycles are regulated by your hormones which can be affected by many things, including your endocrine system, diet, physical activity and stress or and emotions, infections, medications, so the answer is not simple, it's time to visit your gyno, he/she can better determine the problem ,and provide you peace of mind and if there is a problem a solution, make an appointment and go, best wishes for you! If you've taken a lot of birth control pills, your body may have forgotten how to menstruate cause it never learned how to do that in the first place Doctors hear woman complaints all the time it's nothing to them so there is nothing to be embarrassed about. Maybe you would feel better with a lady doctor. Either way remember they are doctors. Also this could be why you are gaining weight and can't get it off. Even though you are scared, you really need to go to the doctor. I have had this problem and I had to get pills to make me start my period. I have taken this pills several times. Good Luck ! It may be from your excersizing alot. I don't know for sure but rememeber back in school when they told you that kids who excersized a lot might get their periods later than kids who didn't? Your best bet would be to find out from a docter, though. At your next docter-visit, you should bring it up. Not having your period for a year can be a scarry thing. Especially when you have a normal period in the beginning. I would definately go to your gynocologist and be looked at. They will be able to tell you what is going on. They might also have you do an ultrasound to see what is going on inside of you. It doesn't hurt at all and is actually pretty cool to look at. Don't sweat it. Just call and make an appointment. If you are afraid of your parents finding out, you can always go to the doctor alone and say that you want to be kept as confidential. But... I think that any parent who has a daughter that hasn't had her period in a year would like to be there for them and will help them in anyway possible. Good Luck. love its probably nothing considering the fact that you work out so much. the only way to be sure is to go to your doctor. don't be shy they aren't that scary, and you pay them to solve your problems anyway so they have too. |
