What can help me sleep during peri-menopause? |
I will wake up several times per night or wake up at 1,2,3, etc. and not get back to sleep. I cannot function properly and have tried what I think is everything. Help!!! I HEAR YA SISTA!!!!!!! I am also peri, and I too suffered from the same type of non existing sleep. A good friend of mine, who is an herbalist, told me about this herb you can get from the herb store called Gaba. I use the sublingual under my tongue at night, and sleep like a baby!!! the exact name I use is... Gaba calm by source naturals. It's orange flavored and you put it under your tongue 1 hour before bed time, and when you fall asleep, you stay asleep. PLUS, when you wake up, you feel like new money. My Dad even uses it and he is 66 yrs old. He swears by it too! Good luck. I recommend talking to your physician about this. It may be that a prescription med can help, or even a short course of hormones. if I were you goes see your primary doctor. Tell them, about your problems with your sleeping habit and menopause. They might give you the medicine that you needs. Hormone therapy will only suspend your symptoms, so I recommend letting your menopause run its course. They have also been linked to cancer, FYI. As for sleeping, I would recommend taking 1 tablet of melatonin an hour before bed. You can find it in the vitamin aisle of any drug store. It's not a "drug", but it helps boost the levels of melatonin in your brain, which makes you sleepy. It's safer than kava, which is an herb for stress and insomnia... but you could try that too. I wouldn't take any of these long term, but taking it for a week or two would be fine. I take it whenever I can't sleep, and it knocks me right out. Just make sure you don't need to get up for 8 eight hours. My mum have those, sometimes she get hot flush making difficult to sleep, have you tried drinking milk? it contain tryptophan that helps you sleep or if it doesn't work, try going to doctors so that he can prescribe you something to sleep. I personally have started cleansing my body on the cellular level and adding some minerals to help with my menopause symptoms. I had a complete hysterictomy at a very young age and this system has helped me so that I take nothing more than nutrition and minerals for all of my issues. I am happy to talk to you more if you wish. Please feel free to email me direct at bignlild@msn.com |
