Does anyone here know if having a spike in blood sugar can bring on a period? I had a problem yesterday where my blood sugar spiked. I got really sick from it, and today I started my period, but I'm not due to start for two more weeks. My husband's 1st wife was diabetic and said she had a lot of problems with her cycles due to this, but it doesn't seem that it spiking once would cause this. So, I'm trying to figure out if it's due to blood sugar or possibly signs of early menopause. Two months ago, I skipped a month, so something is out of whack. Any personal situations like this? I had gestational diabetes with my son two years ago, so the possibility of diabetes is there. However, I check periodically and haven't had a problem, until yesterday, when I ate something that spiked it.
I dont think its early meopause, talk to your doctor to be on the safe side, some women are just irregular. If you usually get your periods the same time every month and this one is the first that has been early, i would talk to your doctor. Sorry i dont have any better answers for you, good luck hun. Instead of checking your blood every so often to find out if you have diabetes, you better read a bit about the symptoms and precautions etc. You will probably get a while list of questions out of what you have read. I wonder, if you do not have diabetes why do you check your sugar (like why did you check it yesterday? ) Just because your husband's first wife had it, it does not mean you have it too. Early menopause can be checked only through checking hormonal level in your body. If they turn out to be low, it might be onset of menopause. I would not worry about diabetes all the time, and even if you have once in a while period irregularities its still not a sign to anything. So better watch your periods for a few month and if you will notice great changes, go to your gynecologist for a thorough check up including a hormonal check up.
