Has anyone been helped by any migraine medications?

Has anyone been helped by any migraine medications?

It really depends on your medical history before doctors put you on different type of migraine medication.

If you have very few migraine attacks, doctors will most likely give you abortive medications like naproxen, tramadol or vicoden.

However, if you are a frequent migraine sufferer, you will most likely be placed on preventative medication. Even then, sometimes medication can be taken on a "trial and error" basis, meaning that the first medication you take might not work, but the second one works for you.

I have been on different types of medication when I first had migraine. Topamax, propranolol, aricept, effexor, amitriptyline, zyprexa, zeldox, botox... You name it, I've tried it. It took me several years and many different combination before I finally got the correct one.

So Yes, Migraine medication do help, but I guess you need time, patience and good communication with your doctor before starting any form of treatment.

Only doctor's prescriptions, fiorcet, and topomax work well.

I take Maxalt for my migraines. It works great. You just stick it under your tongue and let it dissolve. I can even take it after the headache starts and it will still work pretty good.

I use excedrin migraine when I get bad headaches. I used to get migraines all the time but decided to go to the eye doctor incase it wasn't just tension causeing the headaches. But I found out I had an issue with the strength of the muscles in my eyes. That caused really bad headaches. So if you don't have glasses now. look into seeing your eye doctor

Excedrin migraine works best for me

3 adivil and 50mg of gravol at the begining of the migrain and go back to bed. I usually get an aura before the pain hits, like zigzags in my vision or facial numbness.
Best way to controll it for me was to get enough sleep- decrease stress, avoid foods that are processed.
Narcotics like furinol make me ill.
good luck!

A deficiency of magnesium can cause migraines.
