I have a terrible migraine that no medicine will help. Any ideas?

I have a 3 year old so sleeping isnt an option.

And I get a sharp pain when I bend over to pick something up. And when I cough or sneeze.

HI,
Could you call your family doctor who ever's on call for the weekend and explain you can't go to the ER as you have a baby to take care of and tell them nothing is working.
There is a medicine called fioricet which is available much cheaper in generic form if he would prescribe that for you and tell him you'll make an appt on Monday or as soon as he will see you. I hope this helped sweetie. May sound crazy but have you tried Anacin? Regular old Anacin believe it or not has helped both me and my daughter who is 14 and suffers with migraines. She has fioricet on hand if it gets really bad but we swear by the Anacin most times. Please call your doc and ask these things just to be sure. Or try the Anacin....wait about 45 minutes if you feel no relief call. Do you have anyone who could watch the baby so you could go to the ER?>? They treat migraines all the time but they would want to do a cat scan just to be safe....so you would have to plan to be there for a while.

Love,
Eileen

Ideas are many, pl see what suits you.
If you are in cold country use all warm things.
Pl try cold water bath and observe if in hot country, if pain increases use warm.
If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help.
Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.

There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.

My allergies are making my migraines worse now that spring is here - have you tried addressing that (if you think you have them).
I only thought of that cause the sharp pain when you bend over or cough or sneeze sounds like sinus pressure, not a headache.
Both my friend and I have chronic migraines and even our prescription migraine meds sometimes aren't enough - we both have to go get a shot sometimes from the doc or the ER - If you have to go to the ER, just tell them right away that you have chronic migraines and your regular meds aren't helping this time - that this has happened before. Otherwise you will have to get all kinds of tests you don't need (they spinal tapped me once and I was doped up, so I really couldn't object!)
My friend even recently had to get 3 shots in one week cause nothing was working, it finally helped!
Good luck! I don't know of anything besides medicine that actually helps mine - if you haven't tried Excedrine Migraine, try it , it's really good. But only take 2 in one 24 hour period - it's strong!

I assume you are not on any type of prescribed migraine medication. I suffer from migraines myself and sometimes even my prescribed medication doesn't ease the pain. What I have found that works best for me, is that I turn down the lights in the room, get an ice pack. You can use a baggie for the ice. Just make sure it is good quality and has a tight seal. If you have access to crushed ice, that works best, because it will form to the area you are applying the ice to. If not, try crushing it yourself. Put some in a baggie and gently crush it with the bottom of a sturdy glass or a meat mallett placing a paper towel or dish towel on top to prevent from putting holes in the bag. If you have any type of pain reliever, go ahead and take it. Take your bag of ice (crushed preferably) into your dim room, and place the ice at the back of your neck and lay your head gently back on it. You can do this lying down or sitting up in a chair that has a high back to support your neck. You may want to wrap the baggie in a wash cloth or paper towels, so the coldness isn't too cold against your neck. I find that alternating the ice from my neck to lay it across my eyes works wonders. Dimming a bright light in the room helps well too.

I sympathize with you since you can't sleep it off, that is usually what works for me. But, hopefully, these suggestions will work well for you.

I hope this helps. : )

you blew my answer when ya said ya had a 3 yr old. If you can find some 1 to watch your 3 yr old for a bit you can go lay down in a dark room with a luke warm damp cloth over your face and a quite room hope i helped good luck.
