Medical question: Migraine and numbness?

In the last 5 days, I have had two migraines. After having the migraine for about half an hour, I get numbness that starts in one finger and goes to all my fingers and travels up my arm. At the same time, my tongue and lips become numb. This last for about 10 to 20 minutes but is it normal? Is there anything I can do to stop the numbness? Any advice would be great! Thank you!

I would go to the doctors just to get a check up and blood tests. The reasons for these symptoms may be too little potassium (hypokalemia) or too little sodium (hyponatremia). There is not enough information about your medical history or medications that you are on. Your doctor would know this information and could do the necessary tests. Or another possibility could be if you ate a certain food before this happened every time or if there was a related ingredient in the foods you were eating prior to the symptoms. (possible allergic reaction). seeing your doctor is best. Good luck!

It could be a "complicated migraine" that has neurological features, in your case the numbness and tingling would be the neurological symptoms. It might be something you'd want to run past your family MD or a specialist~~a Neurologist, if these are new migraines.
I had migraines for 30 yrs and the past 25 they have changed into "opthalmic" migraines....much better painwise, but they come at the strangest times and effect my vision, which isn't good if I am driving or at work in the ER. At least with these migraines I know what is coming and can take a whopping dose of Tylenol or Ibuprofen and head the headache off before it gets bad.
