Is anyone out there taking Topamax for their migraines? What side effects are you having and has it helped? |
Is anyone out there taking Topamax for their migraines? What side effects are you having and has it helped? I've been on Topamax for a couple of years for my migraines. For about the first 6 months or so I experienced tingling in my hands and feet. AND, all carbonated drinks tasted really FLAT. After about the initial 6 months or so, the tingling subsided for the most part (I still have it very slightly on rare occasions) and cokes taste "real" again. I took Topamax for a couple of months for nerve pain in my hip. I had to stop taking it because I had a lot of tingling in my hands that spread to my arms and severe weakness in my legs to the point of having to sit down in the shower. From the research I did a couple of years ago people either loved it or absolutely hated it, there was no middle ground. Of course now those websites are gone but I found a couple of others. Good luck! Topamax has a weight loss side effect to it. I take it for another reason all-together, and it works for me. But that was an added bonus. I have taken Topamax for migraines. I did not experience the weight loss. I did have tingling in my hands and feet. |
