I Have been having horrible trouble with Migraines. What can be wrong?

I have been struggling with migraines for about 8 and half months or so. They come and go, sometimes I can go a week or more without a single migraine. But when I get them, It stops me from doing anything. I sit in my room in complete darkness and It doesnt seem to work! I wake up with migraines. go to sleep with migraines...I dont know what can be wrong! please help?

The only thing that I can think might have triggered it was, I started working in a clothing store, and started working crazy hours in November [black friday] and once they started it never stopped. But, I got married and moved away, and they still continued. i dont eat sweets. Its rare that I will even drink a soda. I exercise daily and I eat right! my doc said its because I dont sleep well, But I sleep at 10 pm and wake at around 7 am ish!

Have you been to the doctor?? If not, you need to make an appointment and see a doctor. Don't just assume that they are migraines. We aren't able to tell you what's wrong, and it could possibly be something more serious than that.

Did anything change in your life about the time that the migraines started? Did you change your diet? Change jobs? Did you move? Get a pet? Did someone else start living with you, someone who might be using a brand of perfume, etc. that doesn't agree with you? Did you change your diet?

You mentioned that sometimes you can gor for a week or more without migraines. Start keeping a diary. Look for a a correlation between your activities or your environment, and the onset of migraines. There are a lot of things that can trigger migraines. If you keep good records and try a few experiments, you might be able to find out what some of your triggers are.

Here's a link to a few sites that talk about migraine triggers.

Focus on your general health. Make sure you are getting good exercise and nutrition. Take a multi-vitamin and anti-oxidents. Get plenty of sleep and actively manage your stress levels. Control your exposure to allergens, like getting rid of carpet, using an air purifier and using dustmite barriers on your bedding. If you are on any medications, read up on the side effects to find out if any are known triggers for migraines.

Get a physical if you haven't had one for awhile.

Best of luck!

First off, see a doctor. If that's not possible for whatever reason then try to start tracking your daily habits to include eating, sleeping and stress levels. No one knows your body better then you. New studies have found that defects in the serotonin producers of your brain can cause mild to severe migraines along with many other ailments that many people think are unrelated such as Irritable bowel syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome. Check into your family's health history, normally it runs in the family. Most of my family suffers from it in one way or another that until recently we all thought were unrelated ailments. Try looking at www.eurekalert.com and type in migraines. Someone might scare you and say it could be a tumor, and depending on the circumstances nothing can be ruled out until you see a doctor but always start with Occam's Razor. The simplest will most likely be correct.

Because this has been happening for "about 8 and a half months", you should look at what has changed since before they started to the time when the migraines became a problem. For example, you should see if you had changed your food, sleep, or alcohol consumption patterns. Also, you should try to relax more because stress could be a possible cause of migraines... hoped it helped, but you should see a doctor ASAP.

Definitely see a doctor.
There are many things that can cause headaches besides migraines, and they should be ruled out.
If they are migraines, the doc can prescribe meds that will help a lot.
Meanwhile, keep a food diary [ to see if certain foods or junk food trigger a headache, etc.]
PS: cocaine is very bad for migraine sufferers - quit it!

Look at what you have been eating and drinking over the last week or so before the attacks. Chocolate, orange juice, alcohol are well known to bring on migraine attacks but a bit of each can trigger one off. It's like you are cup and adding these things to your system tops up the cup until it overflows and results in a migraine. Google "Migraine Help."

well umm it sometimes depends on ur age group. but it depnds on ur food style, change of sudden weather and a lot of other stuff. u need to be carefull u don't eat anything too spicy or sour on a sunny day. i will be sure to get bak wit u after this is all the the info i can provide to u right now.

u can be put on medication for it, one of my friends has terrible problems with migranes and he has to go to the doctor to get medication quite often. since it didnt stop for him he had to get a scan in case he had a brain tumour. its probably nothing major but u definately need to see a doctor

It could either be from stress or sun. I get major headaches from staying out in the sun to long without a hat or whatever for protection. Plus if you're stressed out or working on a big important project, that could be a choice. The best thing for stress is simple yoga. Try It :)

you could have a serious health problem or it could be something simple that you can change, like your diet. you may be eating something, like milk products, that can trigger migraines. go to your doctor and see if anything major may be wrong.

First thing is to see a doctor. I also used to suffer from migraines, but a medication, which I no longer take, stopped them almost as soon as they began. No explanation for that, but I did see a doctor, and so should you.

try excedrin migraine, it works wonders

Not sure, but just get 8 hours of sleep at least. If that doesn't work, then go to see ur doctor.

you could be overly stressed
or you could have been eating to many sweets

it could be more serious than it seems.
my advice: go see a doctor as soon as possible.
