Any experience with childhood migraines? |
My 13 year old son has had chronic migraines for 7 years now. We've tried everything from food journals and food elimination diets to allergy testing to eye exams, MRI's, several medications, medical massage...you name it. Nothing really seems to work or to pinpoint the root cause of these headaches. Does anyone have similar experiences or suggestions for what may be causing these??? have you tried alternative medicine..they believe in doing a realistic approach to cleanse the body from the inside out..inside of treating the symptoms like the Western medicine industry does. Here's one that even most doctors won't think of until he is older, despite manifestations in younger patients. He may have, or be developing an equilibrium disorder. Meniere's Disease is just one, and "untreatable migraine headaches" appears to be a symptom of it. Some patients of equilibrium disorders seem to "plateau" at certain stages, and years later develop new symptoms. If all of the common causes for migraines have been ruled out, you may want to consider these with his doctor. Most (not all) equilibrium disorders have treatments available for the migraines, but you would first have to determine if he has one, and which one it is. as far as I know i cant tell you the cause for it, but for immediate and long lasting relief, i always use" excedrin migraine" It's my lifesaver!! My sister-in-law's are triggered by flashes of light. Like when light reflects off of something shiney. my daughter has had them since she was 4 yrs old. Well MOM I LOVE YOU!! |
