I'm often having 'migraines' - what should I record or tell my doctor for a proper diagnosis?

I know that migraine diagnosis can be a pretty in-depth evaluation of lifestyle for a lot of people. The symptoms of a migraine sound much like what I'm experiencing, minus a few. What should I be keeping track of when I do experience these headaches, and what should I be keen on telling my doctor?

If you think you may not remember all the exact symptoms then yes write it all down. I get them severely too and get nausea. vomiting and diarrhoea. I told my Dr everything I had and she was even suggesting getting a cat-scan done. But as long as you tell the Dr all symptoms such as blurry vision, affected by bright light or any light in general and maybe how long you have one and how often they occur and such. It all helps in the proper diagnosis. Good luck. :)

The best way to go about this is to keep a journal. Write down everything on a daily basis. Don't just wiat until you've already gotten a migraine. You need to record the things that take place prior to your getting the migraine. I would record all food consumption and times and tell how you felt throughout the day. Also record any life-changing events that happen. These will all prove to be very helpful for your doctor's analysis. Also check out this website for more info:

you should tell about the following......
- where is the pain
- frequency of the pain
- severity of the pain
- characteristics of the pain (localised throbbing ... like that)
- what is the aggravating factor ( heavy work, bending )
- what is the releiving factor ( rest )
- when the pain is more ( morning or during work)
- what is your previous conservative treatment
- is the pain right or left side
- is pain only on your temporal area or in occipital area also..
- is the pain referred to any other area or localised....
- what is the quality of the pain ( mild or moderate or worst)
...... etc. answer to these questions will ease your diagnosis...
i wish you for your correct diagnosis, good treatment and better result........
