Can Migraines Be Sign Of Becoming Malnutitious??

I am currently under the recommended BMI levels for height & weight, and breast feeding. I am seeing a dietician to help put weight on, I have an over active metabolism.
I have been under a great deal of stress, but I do have a history of becoming malnutritous while breast feeding.

Since I have been losing all this weight (at least 10lbs a week), I noticed I have been suffering a lot of headaches. They have turned into migraines, which really knock me around. I can't even stand up when I have on. I do have a great diet, I eat all day.

Do you think this could be the on set of becoming malnutritious again??? Or is it stress related??

FYI - Am seeking medical attention for this, I am only asking what your opinion is. I get bloods back tomorrow or the next day.

Hi Charli, I'm not sure if migraines are a sign of becoming malnourished but I know that I get headaches whenever I don't drink enough water. Given that you're breastfeeding twins they will be robbing your body of both nutrients and water. Make sure you drink plenty of water (also to avoid constipation) and take a multivitamin for breastfeeding. Did you know that you actually need more calories and carbohydrates when breastfeeding than during pregnancy? I'm sure this is even more so for feeding twins.
BTW I wish I had your ability to lose weight. I did lose all my pregnancy weight after my first but this time around it's not budging at all (I'm on steroids due to Lupus - long story).
I hope you can sort it out soon and feel better.

Sounds like it could be a combination of stress & iron deficiency. Breast feeding can cause deficiencies, especially since you have twins.
I had a history of losing large amounts of blood after giving birth. I was recommended Ferro-Gradumet after my last child because of the amount I lost after the c-section - yes c-section! I also had a few other problems with the pregnancy too though.

In my nutrition class, we learned that malnutrition can CERTAINLY cause headaches. Your body's cells need the glucose from carbs to carry out all of your daily functions. If you are not getting enough carbohydrates, this will cause headaches. Your brain is screaming for help lol. People on the atkins diet (all meat) had one major complaint in common: Massive headaches, especially in the morning. Try and eat more carbs. Good luck, and stay healthy

when i lose 10grams by skipping a meal i get a headache,,,lol
i reckon your definately straining your poor body,,, i wish i knew your secret to weight loss, i can afford to give you 15 kg,,, ill post it to you in the mail xxxxxxxxxxxx
breastfeeeding didnt make me lose wight!,, not fair,,lol

Definitely. That is far too much weight loss to be healthy, ESPECIALLY while breastfeeding, and malnutrition is among the many things that can trigger migraines.
