CT Scan for migraines...anyone else?

I've been a migraine 'sufferer' for about 4yrs now. Over the course of the last 6-8mos they have become more frequent and the pain/symptoms are getting worse. I have tried Imitrex but it's side effects for me were worse than having the migraine. And the latest I was prescribed was Duradrin which never seemed to do a damn bit of good. Yesterday I went to the Dr. and she prescribed me Maxalt for the migraine's and Phenergan for nausea. But since I've had them for so long, she wants to schedule a CT scan of my head to see if there's more to the story like inflammation of my sinuses or a mass or whatever.

This was the most thorough Dr.'s appt I've ever had in all my 23yrs of living, ha ha. She looked in my throat and up my nose and found I apparently have a polyp in my throat from chronic post nasal drip (something I never knew I had). She also wanted to do blood work to check my thyroid.

I've never had a CT or anything like that...What should I expect?

a Ct scan is quick, non-invasive procedure that lasts less than 20 minutes for the entire exam. No contrast is used. They just ly you down on a board and send you into the donut hole imager where the device bombards your head with xrays from several angles. Then you are removed and its over. Your doctors gets into touch with you later to give you the results.

I'm a "sufferer" also. I have found that Excedrin Migraine works very well. As soon as I feel one coming on, i pop a couple of those bad boys. 30-45 minutes later, I'm feeling so much better.

As far as a CT scan goes, never had one. Good luck.
