Migraines and pregnancy?

Has anyone suffered the horrible migraines during the first trimester? If so what did you do to cope with them?

I always get migraines with my pd. So this is nothing new to me. With my first pregnancy I had migraines and headaches alot in the first trimester. The doctor at the time gave me firocet (sp) to take for them. Now with my second pregnancy they have given me firocet again. I just hate taking these pills for fear that it could harm the fetus even though the doctor said it was okay to take.

I am also a migraine sufferer. Being pregnant with my first two, headaches didn't bother me too bad. However, with my third one, I had at least one a week. My doctor gave me a RX for Tylenol with codine. I asked him about any risks and he said there was just enough codine to knock out the headache but not enough to hurt the baby...unless I took way more than directed. So, if you aren't allergic to codine, you may ask your doc and see what he says.

If the doc says pills are ok, trust him/her. If you're in doubt, ask what category they come under.
Category A means testing has been done, and there's no harmful effects.
Category B means not a lot of study has been done, but with what has been done, it's ok.
Category C is use only in extreme cases,
Category D is Not to be used during pregnancy.

I never had migranes, not even in my first pregnancy. In the first trimester of my second pregnancy, i had a whopping great migrane 2 or 3 times, that lasted more than a day.
The doc prescribed me panedine forte, which i could take one of with normal panedine. Or, i could get a shot of morphine in the base of my skull, which would help with the pain. He said it's safe, coz it only goes in just under the skin. I chose the tablets.

After i got home, i put a cool towel over my head, and listened to music.

I suffered from migraines at the very end of my first trimester and like the first two weeks of my second trimester. I slept through them. I didn't have a job so it was okay for me to just rough it out at home. If I had known i could have gotten meds I would have probably taken them occasionally but not for every headache

What really helped me was actually a chiropractor. It has to be a good chiropractor and not just any old one so you should research it. It always did the trick to take away my headaches for a while.

My friend suffered from migraines and said tylenol never helped her and what helped more was a ice pack on her base of head/top of neck for about 20 minutes.

Hope these work...

When I get migraines I usually just stay in bed with the drapes drawn and no loud noises. You might even take a look at your diet...some foods can cause migraines. I found that processed sugar gave me migraines, not so with brown sugar or honey so I eliminated the processed sugar.

I do get really sever migraines to the point where I go blind I had to get a dog to help me out since I been pregnant I have only lost my sight once. I was told I couldn't take anything

one time i got one so bad i was in the shower for 5 hours but that what helps me
