Migraines/Headaches? |
I have been diagnosed with migraneous headaches (or something similar). The pain isn't as obvious as a migraine, but is more than an everyday headache. I was prescribed with "Migraleve" and it does nothing to get rid of the pain. I was prescribed on Friday, it is now monday and i've used 3/4 of the medication. The doctor doesnt realise how frequent they are. I constantly feel lethargic.. Eventhough i'm getting 10 hours a night - because i've left school, after exams? I get migraines too, here are some things i've found which work well.. Basically anything with codeine. They might have different trade names where you live, but the active ingredients should be the same: I suffer from Migraines and the BEST Medicine I use is ESGIC PLUS Rx! Report Abuse I'm not sure about medications, but it sounds like you might have fibromyalgia - constant pain experienced mostly throughout the body, but can be concentrated in one area. I have been self-diagnosed =] with fibromyalgia and I have the exact same problem as you. My doctor told me it was just migraines, too, but it's a constant headache, all day every day, and I have a friend who actually was diagnosed with fm and has this same problem. I'm looking into getting medicine for this, so maybe ask your doctor about fibromyalgia. Hi, I too get bad migraines/headaches. There is a medication you can take that can help prevent these headaches occuring. It's called Pizotifen (pronounced piz-ot-e-fen). I take 1.5 mg every night and I've only had 2 migraines - that actually were better than normal for me - since taking it a month ago, I was getting 4/5 migraines a week prior to this. Ask your gp about it, it's really helped me. See a headache specialist. Start a daily log of headache, sleep and foods. When you meet with the doctor make sure that he has listened to all your symptoms and observations. And make sure that you listen carefully to the advise and instructions given. I also suffer from migraine, i take one Pizotifen every night and one Naratriptan whenever i get a migraine, but you are only allowed one per episode, so if your migraine goes and them comes back you cant take another one. I would go back to the doctor and explain how often you get them, i was referred to a neurologist and had tests done before i was "diagnosed" with migraines I would suggest going back to your doctor and explain fully to him/her how your headaces are affecting you. I suffer with migraines which knock me out for 3 or 4 days. I would be very reluctant to suggest alternative medication because of your age. There may be a number of reasons for your headaches including lack of water. Diet does play a big part where continuous headaches occur. I don't have a medicine answer, but i know the pain. I go threw the same thing and its been as long as I can remember I live every day with a headache - bad ones. I also have the same problem with doctors I cant get them to give me anything to make them go away. please if you learn any more about this please email me. thx try ibreprohen(i dont't know how to spell it) take a high dosage of it but it works alot also rest and sleep alot ,and drink fluids plus some food but it really does work but it has to be scribed i got it from the hospital IT REALLY WORKS Yes get sumitriptan - this is specifically for migranine. You may be sleeping too much. Try 2 excedrin and a big coffee. i use syndol, for tension headaches. i swear by them but dont know if they be effective on migranes I know some people get Chronic Daily Headaches as they are called which can be quite severe and debilitating. |
