What can I use for menstrual migraines? I've tryed everything, but nothing helps.?

I have seen the Dr. for his, but he just gave me ibroprophine. It did not help. I have used all over the counter stuff as well. Is there some kind of herbal tea or something else that will work for me.

I had menstrual migraines from age 18 to age 40. They hurt so badly I frequently "grayed out" from the pain. My physician put a standing order for an IM shot of Demerol every month and I would simply have someone drive me to the ER every 21 days for my shot.

Then in the 1980's, naproxen sodium (Aleve) was approved for menstrual pain. Naproxen sodium was called "the magic blue pill" because it worked. It certainly helped my menstrual migraines.

The recommended dosage is 550 mg for the first dose, then 550 mg 12 hours later. Or you can take 550 mg for the first dose and 275 mg every 6-8 hours. Don't ever take more than 1100 mg per day.

Please note that this dosage is considered "prescription only"; you shouldn't take that much without checking with your physician first. He/she will know about other medications and health problems that may contraindicate (prevent) your taking Aleve. Especially since it's been "black-boxed" as a cardiac and gastrointestinal risk.

I know it's a long Answer, but I wanted you to know you're not alone. Menstrual migraines hurt!

You might think this is weird, but I read that masturbation helps migraines. As soon as you feel one coming on, you should masturbate (or have sex) to orgasm. The release of endorphins helps ease the tension in the head.
It can't hurt to try, it's a completely free and natural remedy.

there's this new thing out called the migraine stick. it looks like a small glue stick, and you rub some on your forehead. it's supposed to work very well, although it does sting a little bit. hope this helps... :)
