Any suggestions for daily migraines?

I suffer from daily migraines. Not so much the pain but dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, exhaustion etc. I experience this everyday, all day long. I've taken everything from Verapamil to anti-depressants etc. It has been suggested by my doctor to start on anti-seizure medication. At this point, nothing seems like it is going to work. Anyone go through the same thing and have their "miracle" medication?

Have you tried preventatives medication like Feverfew (100mg/day), and Magnesium tablets (2 X 250 mg/day)? These have worked for many people where other medications haven't, and there is clinical evidence supporting their effectiveness. The other nice thing about these is that they are over the counter. I found that this combination has helped prevent the headaches, helped reduce the intensity, helped me sleep better and reduced the exhaustion.

You also need to avoid taking pain relievers daily. If you take more than 10-15 of these per month, they can actually start causing the headaches.

The other thing that I would suggest is a combination of triptans (Imitrex, Zomig, etc.) and Metoclop. You can up to about 10 of these month before they start causing headaches. The triptans are not pain relievers - they actually work only on migraines and pain relievers can be taken in conjunction with the triptans. Metoclop is an anti-nausea medication, but it also has anti-migraine properties and will help the absorption (and thus effectiveness) of other medications.

The suggestion given by another person regarding a massage may also be helpful. Press on your shoulders and neck and see if you feel any pain. If so, that may be a contributing factor to the on-going headaches.

What you are suffering from is probably side effects from prescription medication.

Dehydration can cause fatigue. Most people don't drink enough water in between meals.

Dizziness and migraines can be caused by too much table sugar. See items 71 and 88 (of items 1-146) in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .

Coenzyme Q10 is supposed to help for the prevention of migraines.

Getting daily migranes could be a number of things.
I used to get them qiute regulart.
Have you considered an eye test? Many people get migraines these days because of their eyes. As i say, i used to suffer with them but i went for an eye test and it has calmed them down, as my eyes were working too much, watching televison etc, straining them alot.
Also what you eat, make sure you eat lots of fruit, veg. and drink plenty of water & that you maintain a good sleeping cycle.

Hope this helps. x

Don't really have a cure for you. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I've had migraines for 15 years, and nothing has worked for me. I've just had to learn to function the best i can with them ( which is not easy sometimes ). I can't work, and i can never make plans because i never know how i will feel from one day to the next. Hopefully you will have better luck with medications then i have. Good luck...hugs :-)

Migranes are a constriction of the blood vessles to the brain. While it seems like homeopathic medicines are all fake, perhaps you should try acupuncture, or recieving a massage, anything to help relax the tension, and ease the blood flow.

my dad had tons of migraines and they said it was because of his teeth. that they were crooked and somehow it affected it. So ask your doctor about that. If he says that that could be it maybe go to a dentist and see about getting your teeth straightened or something.

Yes, I found relief, and the miracle was never to go through a migraine ever again!

Acupuncture helped me tremendously with this symptom and others.
