Migraine-Varients (with out a actual headache).?

I was just interested in hearing from anyone who has Migraine Varients, being weirdo neurological symptoms and no headache or typical mirgraine symptoms.

I feel really alone in this area. I would love to hear from someone who kinda understood what I was / is going through.

Thanks.

I've had migraine variants - hemiplegic, eye ones, basilar and also cluster headaches.

With the hemiplegic ones usually not much pain but disorientated a bit, speech sort of stutters, weak on left side, left eye feels bung, left nostril running, some tingling on left side, sometimes can't get up out of bed for about a week. Other times just weak left side and a feeling of wanting to be on the move. Very weird.

Vertigo with the basilar migraine. Very dizzy.

Cluster headaches - left eye closing (also with hemiplegic), can't open it, feel like it is bulging out of your head, something behind it is really pushing on it, left nostril practically pouring. The left side of my face was very warm, these headaches are painful. The basilar are not just very weird.

I have ended up with Horner Syndrome to my left eye on three occasions over the last 7 years. This is where the eye looks sunken in and lower than the other eye and the upper lid is also lowered.

My neurologist put me on two different types of medications over the years, amitryptyline reduced them to just the week of my period.

He said that MY migraines were related to the demyelination in my brain stem.

Staying out of the sun has been the thing that has worked the best; that and taking magnesium tablets - 400mg elemental magnesium a day.

I recently had my first visual migraine. Suddenly there was a blank spot in the center of my vision. I could see a price as .99 and not the 10.99 that was actually there. After an afternoon in the emergency ward and several weeks of tests the answer was "not dangerous. Pull off the road if this happens when you're driving. May be caused by stress, but there is nothing physically wrong or dangerous going on." I did once again (previously 35 years ago) demonstrate an abnormal brainwave pattern, but was told that since there had never been any symptoms not to worry. Part of the population just is "normally abnormal."
