Migraine sufferers,do you use daily medication to prevent headaches? |
What brings you relief? I have had severe Migraines for almost 20 years - and have tried JUST about everything. The only thing that worked for ME, was Topamax as a daily preventative. But there were side effects that those around me didn't like, so I am no longer on it. But it DID work! The only med that works for me for treatment of the actual Migraine is Maxalt. I did for about a year or so. Inderal (a beta blocker). But then I got tired of being tired. Sluggish. So, I found a book on treating migraines. From the book I learned to avoid as much as possible the kinds of people, situations, and foods that were triggering my stress and my headaches. I also learned deep muscle relaxation, meditation, and healing visualizations, mostly from the book Our Bodies, Ourselves. Finally, I learned which herbal teas were helpful. For me, chamomile and peppermint. I did not have to follow this protocol forever thankfully, just for about two years, until my body and my life settled into a more peaceful and yet active groove. I didn't know there was anything like that, having migraines all of my life which became severe with whiplash. omg, then only accupuncture helped. about a two hour ride ,w/o my wife YOG ONLY PREVENTS. |
