What approaches have worked best for you when you suffer from a migraine? |
Today I've been sensitive to light, my vision is blurred, and the room is spinning, nausea hits me every time I try to "work" around the house. And my Migraine medicine doesn't seem to be helping. A lot of migraine medicines are just pain killers. They only help before a migraine starts to occur. I use an herbal remedy for migraines called Fever Few. I used to get those headaches at least every month, now I get maybe one or two a year. If you are on any other medication though, check with your doctor because it can cause problems if you are taking certain prescriptions. It is believed to stop migraines in several ways. It discourages blood vessels from constricting and dilating in response to certain things. It prevents the release of serotonin from platelets. And it reduces the production of prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and thromboxanes, compounds that play roles in your body's pain response. Most studies involving fever few have used 82 milligrams of dried, powered leaf, taken once a day. and it's a heck of a lot safer than sumatriptan (which gave me a mini-stroke), ergostat, motrin, clonidine, etc. pl see what suits you. I take a VERY hot shower and then go lay down with a slightly wet head. This makes my pillow cold. I have suffered from migraines all of my life. Excederin aspirin works the best. I smash my head in the freezer door. |
