Migraines when being on Computer?

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. I have started getting slight headaches when playing on my computer. The reason i am worried is because i have had really bad migraines from playing on my pc for a week and not doing much else (a few months before). But playing a lot of my pc has never given me migraines before why should it start?

Also my sleeping habits change. I go to bed at around 1 - 2 am and get up between 10 - 12. But i feel tired the next day!

I play in a lit room (one lamp on) and i sit a bit less than arms length from the pc.

Last time i thought it maybe all of the caffeine drinks i was having (boost, relentless, red bull etc) but i'm not drinking any of that, or coffee or tea.

Advise would be really good

You need to:

Get more lights (one lamp doesn't make a room 'well lit')
Take breaks. 10 minutes in every hour
Go to bed early (you shouldn't play tired)
Play less
Don't take stimulants (i.e. red bull)...

and, get your eyes tested....

If you haven't had problems before, it could also be that you altered the settings on your monitor to greater brightness and/or contrast and forgot to change them back afterwards. I've had that happen to me. Report Abuse

Sitting at a computor all day can cause headaches and migraines. It is recommended when working on computors you have a ten minute break every 2 hours. Sit further back and get a screen deflector, these sometimes help.

They always say an hour before midnight is worth two after midnight for sleep. Try going to bed earlier and getting up earlier. The best half of the day is gone if you don't get up till midday.

First SEE A DOCTOR, only he can give a medical diagnosis! If you are having migraines only after being on computer then eyestrain is probably the answer. Work in 20 min spurts then turn monitor off for ten min's. This will increase the time you are on but not much. If you feel better the relief will be worth the trade-off. Also getting a larger monitor may help as well!

Check your monitor's refresh frequency is higher than 60Hz. If you are using any modern variant of Windows, right click on any blank spot on the desktop, in the context menu choose 'Properties'. Click the right-most tab. It's somewhere on that page under 'Advanced' 'Settings' or 'Options. (Different for each adaptor/monitor.)

When did you last have your eyes checked?
Could be eye strain causing the headaches.
Also, try making a complete list of what you eat during the day and then eliminate items. It could be your diet.
Obviously, go and see a doctor if they keep happening.

You could have migraines but you may be spending too much time on the computer, if not you may need glasses you should get an eye check if this bothers you a lot.

try seeing an eye doctor

Try play a little less and see if they go away. Otherwise your eyes may have a focus or strength problem, i would get it checked
