Why do I get a migraine every time I exert myself in the heat?

I think it also has something to do with me bending over.
When I do yardwork, I get a migraine and I'm out of commission for a whole day. ???? Thank you.

AllSmiles, I've wondered before if I have low blood sugar. I have checked my blood pressure in awhile, but this has happened to me for over a decade and I always normal to low blood pressure. Thanks again.

It's probably due to your being dehydrated, more than you bending over. Next time, try drinking a glass of water 15 minutes before going outside, and take some water breaks while you are working. Another great thing is Gatorade-type drinks... they re-plenish the electrolytes you lose through sweat. I guarentee if you drink plenty of fluids, you won't get the headaches! Hope this helps!
(FYI, whenever I have a patient who is dehydrated, a common complaint is headache, which goes away after I start giving them IV fluids!)

There are a couple of possible reasons. One of them could be you may have high blood pressure.
The second one may be that you get dehydrated and that is causing your migraines.
Get your blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure, checked out. When working outside drink a lot of water and take breaks out of the sun. Wear a hat or visor when gardening and sunglasses if you can bear them.
However, I am inclined to think that it is your blood pressure that you are having a problem with.
As far as when you have the migraine take an Excedrin for migraines....I have suffered from blinding migraines since i was a child and out of all of the medication over the counter and not this has been the only one that has worked for me.
Only take this medication if your health permits it though.
And most importantly don't substitute the pain medication if you're not planning to go to the doctor. Really, high blood pressure can kill you yet it so easily addressed. If you are already on blood pressure medication ask your Doctor if maybe he needs to increase your dosage.

Well, stay cool and feel better. :)

Yes it could be the heat. It's your body's way of telling you you're overheated, and you need to cool down. Since it's hot, it could also be bright out. If you're doing a lot of squinting and straining of the eyes, that will definately trigger it. Try doing yard work when he sun is starting to set, or try using sunglasses. And don't be out for long periods of time so you don't over do it. Bring water with you and drink it regularly.
Good luck. =)

i dont really know, but next time u go to the doctors just ask them, or you could try drinking lots of fluids, and try not to do as much to exert yourself, and dont go out when you know its really hot out,
hope this helped
