I have horrible Migraines, how can i use meditation to help reduce the pain?

I'm 15 and i know nothing about meditation but my doctor said this is something i could try if i learned how to correctly. So any tips?

i was on imatrex and it actually made me feel 20x worse.

Sugar and sweet foods loaded with sugar can cause migraines. See item 71 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .

The causes for migraine are not properly understood, it seems that different people may have different reasons for their migraines.
If stress plays a role in yours, then obviously meditation could be of help. Besides that, when we get used to meditation, it becomes easier to control the mind, and we can take our focus away from the pain; this is why meditation is often introduced in programs for people with chronic pain.

Don't expect immediate or dramatic improvements by meditation though, for it to help, you need to have some skill and experience with it. Perhaps try to start with simple breathing meditations, as described for example on the website http://viewonbuddhism.org.

So you have bad migraines, what I used to do was get a face flannel wet it with water ring out excess water and then put some vinegar on it, extract excess and take the face flannel and lie down in a darkened room and put the face flannel on your forehead and when you feel it getting warm turn it over keep repeating until headache had ceased, this does work as I have had to do it often as I also suffer with these painful headaches.

My mom has horrible migraines. She used to be in bed for up to ten days with one, throwing up, in terrible pain. Anyway, the doctor prescribed imitrex, and that has helped considerable. It didn't get rid of them completely, but she is functional now.

okay my friend my heart goes out to you i suffer as well they can destroy a day or three .. Here are some tips.

Non med for the not so bad ones:
