Monthly migraine headaches...?

I get migraine headaches and have been taking Imitrex for them for a number of years. I don't find that Imitrex works quickly and the pills make me tired and lethargic.

I'm curious to know what other migraine sufferers are taking and what side effects they are experiencing from their migraine medication.

I have suffered from migraines since i was 13, I am now 34. I am currently taking 75mg of Atenolol (beta blocker) daily as a preventative and for onset symptoms (when i get the aura) I take a Frova. It's a tripatan. The only side effect I get from the frova is hot flashes. The only side effect I got from the Atenolol the first week was i was alittle tired and then it wore off.
These 2 med's work great for me. I have no pain, no sensitivity to light and no upset stomach. And my migraines are also monthly.

Swallow, with plenty of water and a bite of bland food, like a cracker, over-the-counter pain medication such as Tylenol, aspirin, or ibuprofen at the first sign of the migraine. Take only the recommended dosage. Taking medicine early, before the migraine gets bad, is essential in getting rid of a migraine. I've found it's much harder to get rid of a migraine if it's escalated to agonizingly painful.

I've tried a lot of things, even vicodin and have found the only thing that works for me is actually excedrin migrane. My migrane is literally completely gone within 20 mins. It has caffiene in it so be careful taking it before you need to sleep, but I guess you wouldn't be able to sleep with a migrane anyway.

I also get migraines. I always take Imitrex. My Dr. gave me some samples of a new medicine for migraines, it's called Treximet. It contains, sumatriptan, which is what Imitrex is, but Treximet also contains an anti-inflammatory.

Excedrin migraine works good or i can come over and rub it for u.. xx
