No migraine medicines work!?

So I had multiple surgeries for Craniosynostosis when I was born and have had migraines my whole life. I've tried a plethora of medications since I was a child including most of the triptans, ergot medicines, antihistamines, anti-seizure medicines, beta-blockers etc etc. Basically I've tried all OTC meds in existence and almost 30 prescribed medications (including prevenitives).

Anyhow, I've seen doctors, neurologists, surgeons, the whole shabang and all that ever happens is I get prescribed some new medication that doesn't work over and over and over again. I am debilitated several times a week from the Migraines and it's way past the point of ridiculousness. I don't know whether I've been seeing terrible and retarded medical professionals my whole life or I'm just a freak immune to meds or what but I have no idea what else I can do.

Suggestions?

Thanks for the replies, I'll keep your answers in mind.

I had the same problem but on a much smaller scale than you. i suffered for appox 15 years to no avail. mine were so bad i couldnt stand light, noise, I felt so dizzy I had to lay on the floor half the time - pure hell. finally, my family doctor put me on an antidepressant (which i was reluctant to try) and bam - no more headaches after about 14 days on the meds. That was about 10 years ago - I've had maybe 5 migranes since then. it'd be worth checking out! good luck to you!

You could try some alternative therapies such as massage, maybe your body doesnt respond well to medications. Try going to one of those chinese herb places and see if they can do anything, check and see if you have any allergies that could be making them worse, smoking, cheese and chocolate are common things that make migraines worse.

Try acupuncture or a chiropractor. Also, could some of it be stress from so many headaches. I would also check with a nutritionist to see if some of the headaches could be food or allergy related.
I have cluster headaches and Relpax works well for me.

The best thing I've found for my migraines is using a massager. It keeps them under control to the point I don't have to use pain meds very often. Try www.vitalitymedical.com to find a good massager. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Try acupuncture. It's nowhere near as painful as it looks, your insurance may cover it, and it does really work.

that isnt normal, especially if prescription meds dont work
